Housed in the basement of the Beyer family business, which has been in existence since 1760, is the Clock and Watch Museum, an important horological collection. Opened in 1970, the museum has more than 500 exhibits which date from 1400 BC to the present and amongst the highlights are a Griffin Table Clock (c.1640) and a Rock-Crystal Neck Watch (c.1660). The exhibits are arranged chronologically and also include primitive sundials, Renaissance table clocks, Art Nouveau ladies watches, grandfather clocks, chronometers and gunpowder flasks. There is even a watch that checks its own accuracy via a link to an atomic clock.
