The idyllic city park is a green lung located in the centre of the city and a few strides away from the charming old part of Winterthur. The present day park with its sculptures, colourful flower displays and impressive trees was laid out in the 1960s and there are some unusual tree species, including American sequoias, a Cutleaf beech, a real sugar maple and a rare horse chestnut. The 18th century Baroque Cottage (Barockhäuschen) dates back to the time when Winterthur was a summer resort and small cottages were built in the area to accommodate visitors.
