The Thun City Hall was built in 1500 and the tower on the right of the building, which was added in 1585, now houses the Thun archives. The elevation as seen today dates from 1685, when several buildings were combined. The central city coat of arms supported by two lions, has the treasurer’s arms below. The building was totally restored in 1964 and the façade renovated in 1995. The council chamber on the first floor has a ceiling, panelling and doors from 1762. A market is held in the Rathausplatz every Wednesday and Saturday.
