The Oppidum is a fortified site dating back to the Celtic period (first century BC). A stone and earth rampart, set up on a hillock of ground, it measured 130 metres in length, with walls six metres broad and an equivalent height. It was reinforced by an internal intersection of nailed wooden beams. A reconstruction, with explanatory panels, is available to view. The original objects can be seen in the museums of Yverdon and Lausanne. Other such constructions have been discovered in the region close to the Neuchâtel Lake – Yverdon (Eburodunum) and Munt Vully (in France).
