Whilst there is reference to a church on this site as early as 1036, the present St Peter and St Paul’s Catholic Church dates from 1739-1742 and was designed by the Austrian architect Franz Singer (1701-1757). It became an important prototype for village church architecture in Switzerland. Singer was earlier responsible for the parish church at Eschenz. The church is approached by a broad staircase and is notable for its twin domed towers and has a richly decorated interior; it was fully restored in the period 1966-70.
