The tall Capuchin Tower, completed in 1526, is one of Zug’s original fortified towers and stood at the north east corner of the defences; it was the home of the Zug high guard. The date of construction is on the door below the bricked-up arch. The present name of Capuchin relates to the order of monks who lived in the adjacent monastery from 1595 to 1997. Features are the clock, a Zug landmark, which has two Zug shields and a 17th century sundial below. The walls of this fortress taper from 2.80 metres to 2.30 metres thick
