The statue and fountain, which can be seen in the playground of the Burbach School, commemorates a Zug schoolboy who was tragically killed in an accident many years ago. Created by Giovanni Salvadé, a sculptor from Caslano in Ticino, it dates from 1936 and was restored in 1987 by Andreas Walser from Hünenberg. The fountain consists of a basin in the shape of an abstract calyx with a classical column and capital, on top of which the schoolboy is depicted with his schoolbooks in hand. The simplicity adds to the monument’s appeal.
