Located south of Winterthur, the Bruderhaus Wildlife Park is run by the city council and the forest around is home to more than 80 wild animals. Entry is free and the species of animals, which can be seen at close quarters in their spacious enclosures, include lynx, European bison, Vietnamese Sika Deer, wolf and the Przewalski horse. The latter, the ancestor of the domestic horse, was first found in Mongolia in 1882, but has been considered extinct in its wild form since 1970. Facilities include various trails, the Eschenberg restaurant and the Luchs (Lynx) picnic area, which has barbeque facilities.
