The Bellerive Museum is in the former villa of textile manufacturer Julius Bloch and, since 1968, when the Design Museum was split, has housed the glass, ceramics, wood, metal and textiles exhibits. Textiles from the 3rd to 15th centuries are on display, together with silks from the Baroque to the Art Nouveau periods. There is an exhibition of 20th century marionettes and a musical instrument collection, including a unique alto recorder made by Thomas Coenrat Boekhout. The museum has an international reputation and, whilst it is particularly strong in the Art Nouveau period, there is wide coverage of all eras.
