The August Deusser Museum is housed in the historic Schloss Bad Zurzach (see separate entry) and displays a collection of the works of the German painter, August Deusser (1870-1942). After a period of neglect, the castle was purchased in 1978 and restored by art lover Hugo Amman and his partner Antonie Deusser, the daughter of the artist. They established a foundation, with the aim of making Deusser’s work accessible to a broad public. In the castle gardens, the museum also displays the works of sculptor Johann Ulrich Steiger (b.1920) including his main creation, the ‘Encounter at the Water’ fountain.
