The Kunsthaus stages five or six exhibitions each year dedicated to 20th century and present day art, particularly Swiss art emphasising Zug and Central Switzerland. The museum collection also includes what is said to be the most important collection of Viennese modern art outside Austria, including works by Herbert Boeckl, Richard Gerstl, Josef Hoffmann Richard Gerstl, Josef Hoffmann Gustav Klimt, Egon Schiele and Oskar Kokoschka, amongst others. The museum has a mobile exhibition room on wheels, a pleasant bar and the lovely garden has sculptures by, amongst others, Fritz Wotruba (1907-1976), who lived in exile in Zug during the Second World War.
