The Gewerbemuseum presents design in all its aspects, from art objects to items of daily use. It was founded in 1874 and is the only museum of its type still existing in Switzerland today. The building, which is located in the centre of the old town in Winterthur, was restructured and given a contemporary concept in 1999. The museum stages changing exhibitions and events which, in the past, have featured such subjects as Food Design, Footwear and Light. The fascinating Kellenberger Clock Collection (see separate entry) is also housed in the Gewerbemuseum.
