The Zoological Gardens of Marécottes, located at an altitude 1,100 metres, is set in the middle of a forest of fir trees and larches. An area of 35,000 square metres is home to alpine fauna in their natural environment. There are black bears, wolves, lynx, marmots, foxes, owls, stags, chamois, ibexes, wild boars and many other animals. The zoo contributes to the rescue of many species. There is ample parking, a restaurant-pizzeria, games for children, pony rides in summer and plenty of picnic spots. The swimming pool is nearby (see separate entry).
