The Wagenbach fountain, one of the most beautiful in Lucerne, is located in front of the Lucerne Culture and Convention Centre designed by Parisian architect Jean Nouvel (see separate entry). Built in 1934, the fountain was designed by Armin Meili, who was the architect for the 1933 Art and Congress Centre, replaced by the new complex. It was donated to the city by Xaver Wagenbach, the local watchmaker it commemorates. The water jets reach almost to the roof and it is a great attraction for children.
