Switzerland’s longest via ferrata (a mountain route equipped with fixed cables and ladders wherever necessary) is situated in Leukerbad. Experienced hill climbers with a good head for heights will enjoy this venture, which lies between mountain hiking and mountaineering. There are 216 metres of ladders and over 2,000 metres of steel cable installed in the rock face of the Dauberhorn. Visitors can enjoy the unique panorama of the Valais Alps as well as the 100 metre long natural cave traversed on the way. The full climb takes about 8 hours, but there is an opportunity to go back down to Leukerbad about 1/3 of the way into the tour.
