The village is situated at the base of St. Agata, just seven kilometres from Mendrisio. It is in an attractive location and surrounded by terraced hillsides. Evidence of habitation has been found around the Castello area, dating back to the Neolithic age. Artist, Antonio Rinaldi, and the sculptor, Enrico Mariotti both resided in the village. Interesting buildings include the 17th Century Church of Our Lady of the Assumption and the Romanesque Church of St. Agata. Worthwhile excursions include the walk the scenic viewpoint from the summit of St. Agata and also to the Grotti near the village.
