The fascinating Tin Figure Exhibition in the Interlaken Castle is both art and entertainment and in 150 scenes covers the whole spectrum of world history. The subject matter moves through ancient Egypt, Greece and the Roman Empire to World War II and with themes as varied as dinosaurs and the coronation of Queen Eliazabeth II. The tin figure era virtually ended in the last quarter of the 20th century and this collection of more than 30,000 miniature figures, is both historic and nostalgic. Soldiers and battles obviously predominate, but then the most common tin figures were ‘toy soldiers’.
