The Théâtre Kléber Méleau came about in the late 1970s, when the reclamation of industrial areas began in Lausanne. The creation of a theatre from a former gas plant was one of many such revolutionary uses of industrial buildings. Incorporating an acting workshop, the theatre has helped to transform the area. Each season, the Kléber-Méleau produces, or co-produces, four or five plays. It also occasionally offers musicals and concerts. It is twinned with the Vidy theatre, and a season pass is valid at both locations.
