The Convent of Santa Maria del Bigorio dates back to 1535; eight years after its foundation it became a capuchin monastery and has remained so ever since. The museum exhibits both ancient memories and present day life. The rooms display evidence of past activities, such as alms begging, horticulture, garment making, looking after the wine cellar and the kitchen. The monks wove cloth, made bags, baskets and rustic furniture; the skilled sculpted devotional statuettes in wood and made tabernacles. They were also the pharmacists and doctors of their day. Penitential instruments and crowns, together with reliquaries and paintings of saints are also displayed.
