The town of Stans, approximately 14 km southwest of Lucrerne, is the starting point for a journey up the Stanserhorn Mountain and its revolving restaurant at 1,898 metres. Access is by means of a 1893 vintage funicular system, in three sections and 4 km long overall and a modern aerial cable car; the journey takes about 24 minutes overall. The revolving restaurant was built in 2001. There is a fabulous panoramic view of 100 km of alpine scenery and ten lakes, a marmot park and an alpine flower reserve. A hiking trail leads to the summit.
