The Swiss Museum of Stained Glass and Glass Art, which opened in 1981, is located in the medieval castle at Romont, some 17 km south of Payerne. The castle provides the perfect backdrop and also houses the Swiss Centre for Research of Stained Glass. The museum displays a collection of stained-glass windows from the Middle Ages to the present and the workshop not only exhibits a collection of glassmaker-painter’s tools, but also has demonstrations. There are both permanent and temporary exhibitions as well as an area for children which provides creative activities including fun and discovery trails.
