The St. Bernard Dog Museum, located adjacent to the Roman amphitheatre in Martigny, is dedicated to this wonderful animal. The museum uses state-of-the-art museography to highlight and promote the dog as a universal icon. The dogs can be seen inside the museum and in the park outside. The museum covers the history of the St. Bernard dog and that of the Great St. Bernard Hospice and Pass. A number of 19th Century paintings and sculptures are also on show. There is a restaurant on site where you can dine inside, or relax on the shady terrace in the garden, opposite the amphitheatre.
