The Sherlock Holmes Museum is in a reconstructed former English church and was opened in 1991 to coincide with the 100th anniversary of the epic Sherlock Holmes/ Moriarty struggle at the Reichenbach Falls nearby. The main exhibit is an authentic reconstruction of the sitting room of 221 b Baker St, down to a copy of The Times on the floor, the portrait of General Gordon and the violin. Many items have been lent to the museum which has much other material on Holmes and Watson. A statue of Sherlock Holmes was erected in the square outside, which was renamed Conan Doyle place.
