Salorino village, located on the road to Monte Generoso, looks down on Mendrisio as part of its panoramic view. It is believed that the area was settled in the 11th Century. There are a number of interesting buildings, of which the following are the most notable: the 17th Century Parish Church of St. Zenone and the Chapel of St. Rocco dating from the same period, the 18th Century Chapel of St. John in Somazzo and the 19th Century Chapel of St. Mark. There are also ancient houses with fascinatig stuccoes and frescoes.
