The Parish Church of Saints Cosma and Damiano, which was completed in 1875, is neoclassical in style and is the work of architect, Luigi Fontana. The interior, which is built on magnificent lines, is now the home of some stunning works of art. Highlights include the 17th Century Neo-Baroque high altar and the Mysteries of the Rosary, painted by Francesco Torriani between 1654-59. Externally, the Mediaeval Tower, dating back to the 12th Century, is fascinating. It was once part of a castle, one of three Mendrisio erected for defence. The tower was used as a bell-tower.
