Apart from the cathedral, St-François church is the only other religious building in Lausanne which predates the Reformation. In 1258, the Franciscans built a church and monastery on the south-west section of what was then the city. During the great fire of 1368 the church burnt down and only the chancel now remains from the original structure. It was rebuilt thanks to donations from various nobles whose coats of arms can be seen on the vault of the nave. Inside, not to be missed, are stained-glass windows dating from the early 20th century by C. Heaton, A. Cingria and E. Biéler. Guided tours are available.
