The Rosenlaui Glacier Gorge, located approximately 10 km southwest of Meiringen, was inaugurated on June 6, 1903 and extended to today’s length in 1930/31. The Weissenbach River has carved through the slate and limestone and the narrow hiking trail follows the mountain stream. The web site has a helpful map referencing the interesting points on the route, which is a world of thunderous waterfalls, strange rock formations and romantic grottos. The trail gradually ascends and, at the end, a forest path brings you back to the entrance. The gorge is open from the end of May until the end of October.
