The Poetry and Town Museum gives insight into the history of the town and has a picture collection, historic weapons collection and covers local traditions and customs. The museum also contains the bequest of Georg Herwegh (1817-1875) the German born poet and revolutionary. Highlights of the museum are souvenirs, pictures and manuscripts of Carl Spitteler (1845-1924), the Swiss poet who won the 1919 Nobel Prize for literature, Swiss novelist Hugo Marti (1893-1937), Swiss writer and journalist Josef Victor Widmann(1842-1911), Theodor Opitz (1820-1896) German writer and journalist and the writer and poet Jonas Breitenstein (1828-1877).
