High above Meiringen, located on the Planpatten at an altitude of 2,250 metres above sea level, the panorama restaurant Alpen Tower was completed in 1999 and has a terrace that seats 200. The 360° views are outstanding, particularly from the tower bar. From Meiringen, the modern aerial cable car takes visitors up to Hasliberg Reuti from where you take the ‘Alpen Tower Express’ to Mägisalp; the journey to the Planplatten is concluded on the ‘Eagle Express’. At the tower, in the Alpinarium, indigenous animals are exhibited and there is also largest crystal eagle of the world with a wingspan of 2.5 metres.
