The Olympic Museum is housed in a modern facility on the shores of Lake Geneva, and presents the history of the Games from the ancient Greeks through to today. Without a doubt, this is the best known Lausanne museum, with somewhere between 160,000 and 210,000 visitors each year. It tells the story of Baron de Coubertin, the founder of the modern Games, who died in 1937, and contains many historic objects, including Olympic torches from all of the Olympic Games. The museum also includes a library, a video library, an Olympic Studies Centre, an auditorium and a restaurant with a panoramic view.
