The path winds through an area of rare natural beauty, a terraced natural park, covered with a richly flowering meadow and an ancient olive grove overlooking the lake. The park is part of a legacy from a German baroness, who donated it to Lugano in the 1960s. The path, which is indicated by green signs, winds along the lakeside for about two kilometres and threads its way through several little plantations of young olive trees between Gandria and Castagnola. At ground level, oregano, thyme, sage, daisies, carnations, evergreens, daffodils and wild tulips create a fragrant and beautiful sight to beguile visitors.
