Nyon, situated on Lake Geneva amid the vineyards of La Côte, has had an eventful history. Since the 13th Century a castle, dominated by five massive towers, has stood on Roman ruins. The castle is home to the Museum of History and Porcelain. Visit the Museum of Lake Geneva (see separate entry). Walk the promenade offering wonderful views of the lake, Mont-Salève and Mont Blanc. A small railway line leads travels as far as the Jura resort of Saint-Cergue and the French border in La Cure. In summer this is a wonderful place for enjoyment of the countryside and water sports.
