Located in Kirchgasse next to the Museum of Art (see separate entry), the Nature Museum is dedicated to the nature and natural history of the region. It has a permanent collection and three or four special exhibitions each year. The attractively designed museum features the area’s geology and palaeontology together with reptiles, fish, butterflies and native birds and mammals. Further information is provided in the computer room and the children’s corner is an added facility. The collection started in 1873 and the museum opened in its present premises in 1981.
