The History Museum of Montreux is housed in a group of 17th century buildings in the heart of the Old Town. There are four main themes: history, local artefacts, tourism and distinguished visitors. The museum provides an overview of the very rich history of the region. Prehistory, the Roman period and the Middle Ages, reconstructions of interiors and workshops from many eras, the development of tourism, coins, architecture and urbanisation are some of the subjects presented here. There is also an explanation of the town’s development over the years.
