The Museum of Cultures at Villa Heleneum is situated on the Gandria path in Lugano. The villa, a neo-classical style building, is located on the lake’s shore and is a copy of a famous 18th Century villa, Le Petit Trianon, built by Louis XV near the Palace of Versaille. The museum, set up on three floors, presents objects so as to correspond to their place of origin. In 1985, Serge e Graziella Brignoni donated their collected works to the City of Lugano. This collection, one of the most important in Europe, is comprised of about 600 objects of primitive art coming from Oceania, Asia and Africa.
