The village of Mürren, 18 km to the south of Interlaken, is the highest altitude ski resort in the Bernese Oberland, at 1,650 metres. It lies at the foot of the Schilthorn (see separate entry) and faces the famous Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau mountains. The village is car free and you reach it by mountain railway from Lauterbrunnen or by aerial cableway from Stechelberg. In summer, there are more than 200 km of hiking trails to explore and, in winter, 53 km of prepared ski slopes in and around Mürren. There is also the Alpine Sports Centre (see separate entry).
