Morbio Superiore is a village in the Muggio Valley. Although first documented in the 13th Century, it is believed to be much older. Morbio Superiore was home to the sculptor Antonio Pozzi, who lived in Rome and worked with Bernini. Interesting buildings in the village include the Parish Church of St. John the Evangelist which dates from the 18th Century, but is built on 13th Century foundations, and the Ossuary dedicated to St. Nicholas of the Flüe. Of special interest are two Roman constructions, the wash-trough and the bridge over the River Breggia.
