Monte, a hamlet of Castel San Pietro, lies in the eastern part of the Mendrisiotto, on the right side of the Muggio Valley and features many picturesque bridges over the river Breggia. The village is the home town of Monsignor Lezzeni, who was elected Cardinal in Rome in 1860. Its historical buildings include the 16th Century Parish Church of St. Antonio Abate, the 19th Century neoclassical Chapel of St. Philip and the Chapel of St. Joseph. An additional point of interest is the Grotta of the Madonna of Lourdes, which should not be missed.
