Meride, although a small village, stretches to the picturesque region of Serpiano and the summit of Monte San Giorgio. Its forests and fields are especially inviting to hikers. One of the popular trails is the hike to Serpiano and the Alp of Brusino. Another is the nature path on Monte San Giorgio. The village has many interesting buildings including the 16th Century Parish Church of St. Sylvester, which has frescoes by Francesco Antonio Giorgioli, the recently renovated 16th Century Church of St. Rocco and the last neoclassical Chapel of the Madonna del Visacco. There is an interesting Fossil Museum (see separate entry).
