The Municipal Archive contains 1,369 folders containing some 200-300 thousand single documents. This does not include 127 parchments and 1,436 manuscripts in books or volumes. The library’s collection of books and periodicals number more than 4,000 titles. These are mainly printed works published in the 19th and 20th centuries, but there are also books dating back to the 16th, 17th and 18th centuries. The permanent collections are dedicated to the Italian Philosopher Carlo Cattaneo and the Latvian poets Janis Rainis (1865-1929) and Aspazija (1865-1943).
