The Château de Beaulieu was built in 1763 by Humbert-Louis Berseth and was enlarged in 1774 when the property passed into the hands of Pasteur Gabriel-Jean-Henry Mingard, joint author of the Encyclopaedia of Yverdon. Architect Rodolphe de Crousaz designed the alterations, but the work was hardly completed before Mingard decided to turn his residence into a castle. In 1790, Moyse Conod, professor of Greek and ethics, received the Château de Beaulieu as a dowry from his wife, Elisabeth Mingard. They occupied the castle until 1856. Currently, the building belongs to the town of Lausanne and houses the Collection of Brut Art.
