The Lake Museum is housed in a building erected in 1717 as a granary, wine cellar and wine press for the Kreuzlingen Augustine Monastery; it now has 1,500 square metres of exhibition space. The museum focuses on shipping and fishing on Lake Constance and its exhibits include 40 models of ships of the lake, three vintage sailing boats and several fully equipped fishing boats. There are many photographs and also landscape paintings of the lake and the surrounding area. Apart from its permanent exhibition, the museum stages special themed exhibitions.
