The lake is man-made and opened in 2008 on the Halisberg, about 7.5 km by road northeast of Meiringen. The 3,000 m˛ (about 0.75 acres) lake is located between the Twing lower cable station and the Reka holiday village and has a sandy beach and a shallow area which serves as a children’s paddling pool. Swimming is under lifeguard supervision and there are outstanding panoramic alpine views. Features include a float, grassed areas with shade suitable for both sunbathing and picnics and a games area for Frisbee, badminton, etc. Facilities include changing cubicles, showers and toilets and a snack bar.
