Küsnacht is located approximately 7.5 km southeast of Zürich on the northeast bank (also known as Goldküste) of Lake Zürich. A Stone Age settlement, the town is famous for its residents, including psychiatrist Carl Jung (1875-1961); the Institute founded by him in 1948 can be visited at Hornweg 28. Thomas Mann (1875-1961) lived here from 1933-1939 and entertainer Tina Turner is a resident. The rowing club, in Theodor Brunner-Weg 4, has what is thought to be the oldest boathouse in the world, a former wine pressing house, first referred to in 1290. The local museum at Tobelweg 1 is worth visiting.
