Habkern, located approximately 7.5 km north of Interlaken, is a typical mountain farming village and ski resort which was first documented in 1275. About 1,200 metres above sea level, it offers an unspoilt world and, to walking enthusiasts, about 75 km of well signposted hiking trails. The attractive church, which dates from 1666, is in the centre of the tiny scattered village and there is an open air swimming pool, heated by solar energy, which has a snack kiosk and is also close to a restaurant.
