The attractive hamlet of Giétroz has kept its traditional character. It is home to the oldest construction of the valley, dating back to 1672. The entry into Giétroz is graced by two ancient hotels, the Eden and the Terminus. There is a small tunnel, which runs under the line of the historic funicular, leading to the middle of the village. During work completed at the end of the 19th century, some ancient tombs were discovered indicating that Giétroz had long been inhabited. The writing points to a permanent settlement dating back to the beginning of the 14th Century.
