The Church of St John the Baptist was constructed during the years 1723-38. Plans still exist showing the original design as drawn by the architect, Giovan Pietro Magni. The interior of this beautiful 18th Century building contains many precious works of art. Stucco works by Francesco Catenazzi and Giovan Battista Bagutti are much in evidence and in the vault there are four frescoes dating from 1744, also reminiscent of the style of Giovanni Battista Bagutti. In addition there are altar-pieces, an antique 17th Century organ and other treasures waiting to be seen. Renovations in 1994 restored the church’s original glory.
