The Church of St Antonino was built on the site of an earlier pagan temple, believed to have been dedicated to Jupiter. The church is a Romanesque-style building, already present during the 16th Century in its current design, although it has been subject to renovations several times over the centuries. Visitors to the church will find the frescoes, painted by Silvano Gilardi, and the archaeological Paleo-Christian findings of particular interest. This fascinating historic building should not be missed when visiting nearby Mendrisio.
