Châtelard-Village is home to a hydroelectric power station and its museum details the construction of the Barberine Dam at the beginning of the 1920s. The traditional buildings of Châtelard-Village are represented by the old communal oven and the schoolhouse, which borders the ancient mule track. Châtelard-Village was the first Valaisan village situated between Chamonix and Martigny to be discovered by tourists. At the side of the road is an engraving dating back to 1821, which announces the purchase of the site by two young English Lords.
