The Chapelle St Antoine was founded in 1360 after plague broke out in the area and François I wanted to equip his people with a place of worship to protect them. The church was dedicated to Saint Antoine, the patron saint of contagious diseases. When plans to rebuild the parish church were carried out in 1835, a cenotaph was discovered, which was transported and rebuilt in the vault of the castle. The church underwent renovations and some reconstruction between 1839 and 1844, including major repairs to the interior.
